The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently unveiled a unique withdrawal mechanism specifically tailored for small businesses. This comes in the wake of several businesses potentially misclaiming the employee retention tax credit. The confusion arose largely due to misguided information from ERC promoters, leading the IRS to pause processing new claims temporarily last September.

IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel mentioned, “We want to give these taxpayers a way out.” This move is indicative of the agency’s aim to alleviate the challenges faced by small businesses during these trying times.
